On The Conscience
Deep inside my mind the Eternal Hand has planted a light
That sparks in my occasions of deep dilemma to reveal wrong
from right.
Deep within my soul is buried a strong force of subtle
stirring
That pulls the reins when I am tempted by passions
compelling.
The seeds are in every man but its fruits in many are rare
Oft because we allow our weaknesses to encroach its fair
share.
It is the inner voice that criticizes and compliments as
well as encourage and expose
First unto ourselves; when we commit offences nothing of
which a lone soul knows.
It awards us with comfort when we bear the truth alone
Yet it can be the sternest judge when we fool the world in
guilt unknown.
Many have traded theirs for spoils whilst others treat
theirs with scorn and spite
But it is the flicker of hope that has carried men through
many a starless night.
It is the only thing that stands proud on our side
When we become subjects that others love to deride.
It can lift us unto high places and plunge us deep like a
lever;
Its scars and balms, profits and losses can last forever.

We will allow the seeds to grow that they bear fruits. Thank you
ReplyDeleteWe have to. You are most welcome
DeleteOur conscience often give rise to intrapersonal conflict when we have the urge to do the right yet we are tempted to do the wrong. God help us
ReplyDeleteThat's the eternal battle. It gets tough sometimes. We make wrong decisions but, so long as we keep trying, we will prevail.
